Come back to the “road to the Riviera”, on the ridge
of the Langa, from the boundaries to Liguria up to the village
of Murazzano, to the base of its tower. With a squared base and
a height of 33m, the tower was built in the early 13th Century,
and it is the vestige of a fortified complex that controlled the
surrounding road system from its favourable geographic position.
This trail offers you wide views on the Alpine chain of the province
of Cuneo, crossing meadows where the “Langa sheep”
graze. The typical “toma” cheese is obtained processing
their milk, its name is “Murazzano”, and it has been
awarded with the protected designation of origin.
The tower is a symbol of the protection of a tradition and of
a product that were a source of income and a means of support
for the locals, who found this way a reason to keep living in
this – sometimes – inhospitable region.
